We certainly have been busy little bees. We spent last Saturday (it was 96 DEGREES out, by the way) wrangling our furniture from the old house to the new, after which we went out for a well-deserved dinner to thank our awesome (and strong!) friends for helping. I don’t know if that washing machine would’ve made it over without them.
Since then we’ve been constantly unpacking. Well, Sean has also been building his new gaming computer (which he actually, non-ironically refers to as his “hot rod.” Hee!). No single room in the house is really “done” yet, but the kitchen has made quite a transformation so far.
Here’s the blah and boring “before”:

And the excitingly in-progress “during,” with some action shots of Sean the Painting Expert:

Unfortunately, we pulled a novice-y move and painted a spot that we’d patched and sanded, but apparently not cleaned very well afterward. The paint peeled off like sunburned skin in a 3-foot-wide strip above the door, so the “after” photos will be delayed until we get motivated enough to fix it.
But the backsplash and counters are a big improvement, no? We did end up having the tiling done instead of doing it ourselves – we were getting down to the wire with moving day and figured it’d look better if a pro did it, anyway. We saved quite a bit of money by going with cheap white Home Depot tiles ($1.60 per square foot) instead of the swanky colored glass ($21!?!? per square foot).
We’re still surrounded by boxes and waiting with bated breath for the dining room chandelier we ordered over a month ago to arrive, but more photos will be posted!
